Teeth that are not aligned properly in your mouth is called malocclusion. If the malaligned teeth and/or jaw are left untreated, patients are at risk for periodontal disease, tooth decay, abnormal stress on teeth, chronic headaches or TMJ (temporalmandibular) problems, and even as severe as cardiovascular disease. Some types of malocclusions include crowding, spacing, deep bite, crossbite, excessive overjet, edge-to-edge bite, and open bite.

 

Orthodontics can be a great solution that can correct the position of the teeth and jaw to function properly. At Aesthetic Dental Group, we provide traditional metal braces or Invisalign.

 

Invisalign are clear aligners that are a more inconspicuous alternative to metal braces. It takes a modern approach to straightening teeth, using a custom-made series of aligner trays created for each individual patient. These aligner trays are made of smooth, comfortable and virtually invisible plastic that you wear over your teeth. Wearing the aligners will gradually and gently shift your teeth into place, based on the exact movements your dentist or orthodontist plans out for you. There are no metal brackets to attach and no wires to tighten. The aligners are removable for easy cleaning and there are no food restrictions. Just pop in a new set of aligners approximately every two weeks, until your treatment is complete.

 

Not everyone is the right candidate for this procedure. During your consultation, the doctor will examines your mouth and discusses the different issues and solutions that are specific to your malocclusion, or the incorrect positioning of your teeth when your jaws closed. The length and the cost of your Invisalign treatment will also be determined during your consultation.
